You Need To Avoid These Common Mistakes In Winter Fashion

Sometimes in winter it can be tempting to put on an old coat and forget about fashion until spring arrives again. Don't give in, because it's easy to look fashionable in cold weather if you follow some simple rules. Here are some of the most common mistakes in winter fashion.

Be Sure to Wrap Up Warm!

It may sound simple, but you should never go out if you're not dressed warmly enough. Many women will try to keep wearing their favourite clothes or shoes from summer, wear dresses or skirts with bare legs, or even go out without a coat at all. The idea is to keep looking good even if you have to suffer. But the fact is, when you're underdressed in cold weather the main reaction people will have is that you look cold. If you're uncomfortable in what you're wearing, it will show and that's probably not the impression you want to give.

Appropriate Footwear Is Key

By the same token, you should never go out wearing inappropriate footwear. Ballerina flats and sandals will never keep your feet warm or protected from the weather, and they just look wrong with a winter coat. Very tall or skinny heels are plain dangerous in wet and icy weather. Don't wear open toed shoes either, or your feet will be surprisingly cold. Fabric boots such as Uggs tend to be popular in winter but these are best avoided. Not only are they impractical in the rain or snow, they look bulky and unflattering on pretty much everybody.

As Is a Quality Coat

Probably the number one fashion mistake in winter is not wearing an attractive coat. If you think about it, for the whole season your coat is the only piece of clothing that most people will see you in. You could be wearing the most fashionable clothes possible underneath, and only your family and co-workers would ever know. Put some time into finding a good quality coat that looks great and matches well with your accessories, and the effort will be well worth it. If possible it's a good idea to invest in two coats, one for everyday wear and one for formal occasions, so you always look put together.

Practicality and Style Can Work Together

You should always dress in a practical way in winter, but there's no reason you shouldn't be fashionable at the same time. It's really not necessary to dress in a revealing way to look good. Remember that really fashionable women always look like they're dressed appropriately, and that includes dressing for the proper season.
